9203_31709_1.png Summary
Are you mentoring someone in your organization? Use a FirstClass Workspace for projects and discussions. You can also create documents for processes and assessments.

Melissa Stewart is a Marketing Manager at Husky Planes. Her new intern, Stanley Cross, is responsible for helping the team coordinate events and create marketing materials. To make sure Stanley has all the information he needs to learn about the work and to track his progress, Melissa creates a new workspace in her Workspaces area called Marketing Intern Work. She chooses Empty Workspace when prompted for the type to create, so she can add custom containers. She adds the following containers to the workspace:
•       a Marketing processes folder to store processes and instructions
•       a Performance reviews conference to store performance reviews.
This is the workspace Melissa created.

Adding members

Melissa clicks Workspace Members and adds Stanley Cross to the list. This puts the workspace in his Workspaces area and lets him contribute to the workspace. She also adds other employees who require Stanley to do work for them.

Melissa goes a step further and sets permissions manually on the Performance Reviews subconference so she has complete control to create and edit performance reviews, while Stanley can contribute to the conference but not change reviews.

Using the workspace to manage intern work
Once Stanley is a member of the workspace, he creates project folders and documents for his work. Stanley, Melissa, and other Marketing employees post questions and comments about his projects to the conference.

Melissa creates a stationery document in the Performance reviews area to periodically post reviews of Stanley's work.

To set the template documents as stationery, Melissa selected the Stationery field on the Properties form of the document.

At the end of Stanley's internship, Melissa creates a folder for Stanley's work and archives his files and discussions in that folder. She reuses the Marketing Intern Work workspace, Marketing processes container, and Performance reviews container for future interns.
