Would you like to customize your voice greetings based on the caller or time of day? Use Voice Services to record multiple greetings and specify when they should play. Important callers can receive a message personalized for them.

The following example uses the FirstClass Telephone User Interface (TUI). If you are using a different interface, refer to the Voice Services documentation for your particular system.

Melissa Stewart is a Marketing Manager at Husky Planes. She wants to record individual greetings for an important client, family, and calls received after business hours.
Recording greetings
To record her new greetings, Melissa follows these steps:
1 She logs into FirstClass Unified Communications using her phone.
2 She presses 7 to access her voice greetings.
3 She presses 1 to record an external greeting.
4 She presses 5 and records the following message:
"You've reached the voice mail of Melissa Stewart, Marketing Manager at Husky Planes. Our office is open between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Leave me a message and I'll happily return your call in the morning. If you need to speak with somebody immediately, you can contact our on-call manager at 555-8635. Thanks and have a good night."
5 When she is done she presses # to end the recording.
6 She presses 3 to enable the greeting.
7 She presses # to exit the greeting.
Melissa repeats steps 2-7 to record greetings both for her important client and her family.
Customizing scheduled greetings
To input her new after-hours greeting, Melissa follows these steps:
1 She logs into her FirstClass account.
2 She chooses File > Open > Voices Greetings. The Voice Greetings folder is added to her Desktop.

Now, when anyone calls between 5 PM and 8 AM, they will receive the after-hours greeting referring them to an on-call phone number.
Customizing greetings for specific phone numbers
To input the new greetings for her important client and her family, Melissa follows these steps:
1 She logs into her FirstClass account.
2 She selects the Voice Greetings folder from her Desktop.
3 From the Voice Greetings window, she opens the greeting she recorded for her important client.
4 She fills out the Voice Greeting Form for calls from her important client as shown.

11252005_30736_1.png        Note
Under Customize greeting, Melissa uses the Caller numbers line to indicate which phone number she wants the greeting to play for. The Numbers dialed line could be used if Melissa had more than one phone number being forwarded to her voice mail (for example, her work number and her home number). However, if this were the case, her FirstClass administrator would need to add Melissa's other numbers to her User Information form (UIF).

She repeats this process for the greeting for her family. Now, her important client will receive a customized greeting and her family will receive a personal greeting.
11252005_30736_1.png        Note
If Melissa's important client calls after regular business hours, they will still hear the message that was customized for them.
