Summary
Are you looking for a simple and environmentally friendly way for students to submit their work? Set up a submission conference in your class conference area where students can post their finished work.
Example
Roy Allen is a faculty member at Avalon Academy. He decides he wants a communal place for students to submit finished work, so he creates a conference called Submissions in the class conference area where they can submit their finished work.
Next, the he sets permissions for the Submissions conference. He gives himself Controller permissions, since he is the owner of the conference. He then gives the students Custom permissions, so that they are only allowed to send items to the conference.
He sets these custom permissions instead of giving students Contributor permissions because he does not want students to be able to view or edit the work of other students.
Note
The entries in the Who field have to be in the correct order because the permissions are carried out sequentially.
Roy can verify if the assignments were submitted on time by checking the history of the objects in the conference (Message > History).
This displays a record of when the message was sent.
If the Sent date is earlier than the submission deadline, the assignment was submitted on time.
Variation
If Roy prefers, he can create a mail rule to track late submissions.
This mail rule automatically modifies the subject line to say LATE and changes the color of late submissions to red.
